Help Us Help Alabama

  • Do you feel led to help the tornado-ravaged victims in Alabama? If your business or group would like to donate bulk quantities of some much-needed supplies, the members of Calkins Baptist Church would like to partner with you in this endeavor.

We will be providing a direct drop-off to churches located in two towns in Alabama to assure that 100% of the items donated get to the people who need it.

Likewise, all monies collected** will be donated 100% to the people of Alabama who require help at this time due to the devastation of the recent storms.

After making two tractor trailer deliveries of supplies to Alabama, and also sending some men down there to help with the cleanup and reconstruction, we have a better idea of what type of help is most needed at this time. We are now looking for donations of building materials and/or monetary donations only. The drop-off location for building supplies continues to be Narrowsburg Lumber. (See the sidebar for information on who to contact if you have questions about what or how to donate).

And...to give you an idea of what help we have been able to provide so far, in large part due to all of your generous donations of supplies, time, and transporation, we would like to share with you some of 'the numbers' (the account of monies received and expended for the Alabama trip to date):
    • $17305.30 received in donations
    • $7,440.80 - 1st truck expenses (trucking donated by Diehl Trucking, Tyler Hill, PA)
    • $9,573.47 - 2nd truck expenses (Trucking donated by Kapmeyer Trucking, Tunkhannock, PA

More help is still needed! We will be looking to send a third truck down with all building supplies on it, so it's not too late to help! (See the sidebar for information on who to contact if you have questions about what or how to donate).
